The City of Oakland will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Loma Prieta earthquake on Saturday, October 17th from 3:00 to 5:30pm at Cypress Freeway Memorial Park.
Join us for an emergency preparedness resource fair where you can learn from our partner agencies and local vendors about what services, information and products they offer to help you get prepared.
Free health checks will be provided by the Oakland Fire Department, and 100 earthquake preparedness kits will be given away in a free raffle.
A remembrance ceremony will follow at 5:04pm, honoring those who lost their lives in the collapse of the Cypress Freeway during the Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17, 1989.
REFLECT on Oakland's progress since 1989 to prepare for disasters.
HONOR those who lost their lives and the many heroes who risked their lives to save them.
PREPARE for the next earthquake or major disaster.
